Madagascar, The Lost Continent

Africa meets Asia in Madagascar. Located off the east coast of Africa, this incredible country is home to stunning landscapes, vibrant culture and unique wildlife that is not found anywhere else in the world.

Start your adventure in Madagascar’s capital – Antananarivo. Get lost amongst its bustling streets and take a break from exploring by visiting one of its cafes or bookstores - be sure to take some time to admire Analakely Palace too.

After taking in the capital city, head north towards the rainforest region of Masoala National Park - an untouched paradise filled with diverse flora and fauna. From here, make your way south towards Ifaty Beaches – spend afternoons sunbathing on its white-sand beaches or snorkel in its crystal clear waters.

No trip to Madagascar is complete without seeing some of its amazing wildlife up close. Madagascar's wildlife has developed in isolation for millions of years, and the vast majority is endemic to the island as a result. Head over to Nosy Mangabe Island – an isolated sanctuary boasting an abundance of lemurs and birds. Visit during mating season when it’s possible to spot baby lemurs together with their parents or take a nightwalk through the park and join a ranger who will tell you stories about local life. Track the Indri lemur at sunrise to hear their morning call in Andasibe Reserve.

Wander around 800-year-old trees along the Avenue of the Baobabs. It’s believed that these trees were planted over 500 years ago and since then, they’ve grown to a height of over 30 metres in some places. As you drive through the Avenue, you can experience first hand why this landscape has become so popular with travellers - take your time here and admire each tree as you go by. They are all different.

The Avenue is also home to several small villages and local farms – don’t be afraid to explore its winding pathways. See the rice paddies and isolated villages. Here you will find friendly locals who will welcome you and invite you to learn more about their everyday lives. You might even spot some herds of zebu cattle or a pair of brightly coloured Madagascan chameleons on your travels here.

From unspoiled national parks to cultural cities – let Madagascar amaze you with its beauty today.
