The Most Instagrammable Places in Italy: A Guide to Capturing the Beauty of the Country

If you’re looking for the most Instagrammable places in Italy, look no further! This guide will take you on a journey to some of the most beautiful spots in the country. From Rome to Venice, and all around Tuscany, we’ll show you how to capture the magic of Italy with your phone. So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags and let’s get started!

Tuscany

Tuscany is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy, and it’s easy to see why. The beautiful natural beauty of Tuscany’s countryside is unmatched in Europe. The rolling hills, picturesque villages, and stunning sunsets make this region a photographer’s paradise.

Sip delicious wines in one of the wide range of vineyards and enjoy vivid colours of green and yellow all around you. Visit one of the medieval castles in the region for fascinating history lessons and of course stunning architecture photos.

One of the best ways to experience Tuscany is by taking a day trip from Florence to explore some of the smaller towns. We recommend visiting Lucca, Siena, and Pisa. Each town has its own unique charm and there are plenty of photo opportunities waiting to be discovered.

Rome

No trip to Italy would be complete without a visit to Rome. The Eternal City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world for a reason. From the iconic Trevi Fountain, the Colosseum to the Vatican City, and incredible architecture, statues and fountains around every corner, there are endless Insta-worthy photo opportunities in Rome.

If you want to get away from the crowds, we recommend taking a walk through Trastevere. This charming neighbourhood is full of narrow streets, quaint cafes, and lively bars. It’s the perfect place to capture the true spirit of Rome on camera.

Sardinia

If you’re looking for a more off-the-beaten-path Instagrammable spot in Italy, then head to the island of Sardinia. This beautiful island is home to some of the most pristine beaches in the Mediterranean. The turquoise waters and soft sand make it the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. For a truly unique experience, take a boat ride out to see the Pink Beach. This beach gets its striking colour from microscopic coral that washes up on shore. It’s definitely a must-see!

Venice

Venice is a city like no other. With its canals and stunning architecture, it’s easy to see why Venice is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy. Take a gondola ride through the canals and snap a photo of the beautiful buildings that line the waterway. For a bird’s eye view of Venice, be sure to climb to the top of St. Mark’s Basilica. You’ll be rewarded with breath taking views of the cityscape below.

Head to Burano for stunning photographs of rainbow buildings mirrored in the surrounding waters. Why not finish with a delicious meal in one of the man wonderful restaurants after a long day of documenting your adventures?

Mount Vesuvius

For a truly unique Instagrammable experience, take a hike to the top of Mount Vesuvius. This active volcano is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Italy. From the summit, you’ll be rewarded with incredible views of the surrounding area.

This may sound daunting, but with pre bookable buses that take you the majority of the way up the towering volcano, the hike isn’t as bad as you’d think. Comfy shoes and lots of water are still recommended though!

But once you reach the top you realise the view is worth it. Looking out over the Gulf of Naples with the island of Capri seemingly floating on the clouds in the distance is a once in a lifetime experience and the perfect spot to capture some highlights for the ‘Gram.

Positano

If you’re looking for stunning views and incredible architecture, then Positano is the place for you. If you have Pinterest, then you will have probably seen this famously photogenic village. Positano is located on the Amalfi Coast and is renowned for its colourful pastel buildings that seem to cascade down the hillside.

Positano is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean lifestyle. With plenty of cafes and restaurants along its winding streets to choose from, you can while away the hours people watching and enjoying the incredible views.

When it comes to taking photos, be sure to head down to the water’s edge for some of the best vantage points. And if you’re feeling adventurous, why not take a swim in the crystal clear waters? Just don’t forget your phone!

Cinque Terre

Last but not least on our list of Instagrammable places in Italy is the Cinque Terre. This breath taking stretch of coastline is made up of five colourful villages perched atop cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It is literally picture perfect. The five towns are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, each as breath taking as the other.

Take a hike along the coastal path to get sweeping views of all five villages, or take a boat ride for an alternative perspective.

My favourite would have to be candy-coloured Manarola. However, each town has its own distinct appeal and will provide your friends back home with spectacular photographs.

No matter where you go in Italy, you’re sure to find many Instagram-worthy spots. So get out there and start exploring!
