Many people might not realise what they are missing out on when they travel and don't use a travel agent. Here are just a few things that a travel agent (like me!) can do for you.
Experience
Travel agents know the travel market. They keep up to date with changing rules and regulations. Covid rules, passport turnaround times, inoculations required, who flies from which airport - these are just some of the things a travel agent keeps up to date, so you don't have to.
Do you want to know about the latest hotel opening from your favourite brand? Want to know when the best time to get a cheap flight is? A travel agent is the person in the know!
Advocate
If something goes wrong on your trip, a good travel agent will be right there by your side advocating for you - no matter who is at fault - and try to get your holiday back on track. They will call round and find a solution before you have even noticed a problem quite often.
Save Money
Usually, travel agents can save you money compared to doing it yourself because of their supplier relationships. They can get the same thing for cheaper and pass on most of the savings to you.
By building bespoke holiday packages for you, travel agents can get rid of the parts of the holiday that don't matter to you - meaning you only pay for what DOES matter. All of your hard earned money goes on the important things.
Added Value
There are a lot of extras that the public don't even know about that can be added by a travel agent. Ever wonder why the couple in the hotel room next to yours got champagne and you didn't? They probably used a travel agent.
Exclusive Access
Some hotels, tours and experiences are only available through a travel agent. Many companies offer a lot of options and simply want to make sure someone has had advice and is right for their experience. This includes private access, special beach dinners, exotic tours, accompanied treks, private jets and more. These are often only available through an agent.
Resources
Travel agents have access to a variety of tools that the average person is not able to use or doesn't know about. They can sometimes get you a better seat on an airplane, added amenities at hotels, room upgrades, event tickets, and activities just for you.
Convenience
Your time is valuable and you shouldn't have to spend hours of it searching for the right holiday. A travel agent can do that for you. They can match you with the holiday that you actually want, not the one that you saw on Google. There is a difference between travel inspiration and actual travel needs/wants. Destinations may look good on TV but not actually be ideal for you personally. Hotels can hide a lot with fancy photos that don't show the reality of the hotel. Travel agents can help you define what is important for you in a holiday - and get it.
Relationships
Travel agents travel widely and know colleagues and clients who have been to lots of places. They live breathe and sleep travel. They listen to what you want, and are able to match you with a better holiday or experience for YOU than you can find yourself on the Internet.
As you develop a relationship with your travel agent, they are able to target the right trips for you without even having a conversation. They can keep you up to date with offers and news that are relevant to you. A simple phone call or email could result in your next holiday- already planned.
Insider Knowledge
Travel agents have inside information on the best times to go to crowded destinations and they know what the new "it" destinations are going to be before the masses. Want to get there first? Use a travel agent. If you have a travel related question - the obvious person to ask is a travel agent!
Care
Travel agents are some of the most lovely, funny, bright and knowledgeable people you'll meet (OK I could be slightly biased!) Travel agents really care and are passionate about sharing the world with you. Take advantage of their services.
